don’t shoot i’m a linux user

idk but i use arch btw

Congrats for repeating someone else’s joke louder
It is really just about the last panel, but that didn’t came without the other three, so…
Im afraid someone else also posted just that panel hours before you.
Theres no way to win here, accept that today you repeated the joke in a reply and do better tomorrow. We all do it when commenting eventually.

Should’ve been this meme format
Should be…
You’re a Linux user, name every distro…
Debian, Arch, Fedora.
Those aren’t even close to all.
Here’s a couple more i can think of right now (following your pattern of only base distros):
LFS, Chimera, AerynOS, Alpine, Gentoo, Guix, NixOS, Slackware
Void
Fedora, red hat Linux, bazzite, secureblue, rocky Linux, alma Linux, bluefin, nobara, aurora, ultramarine
If you don’t like Debian, go fork yourself.
You’re being a bit unstable right now.
Apologies, friend. It was all mint in good fun.
“Don’t shoot! I’m a TempleOS user!”
guards throw down their weapons and kneel
“Don’t shoot! I’m a puppy linux user!”
guards are overcome by cuteness
That was too easy. Name 10 things that cause endless flame wars on linux!
systemd
Vi/Emacs, and get off my lawn
Vim: quick and easy
Emacs: properly decent programming language in the configs, supports Vim bindings via Evil, Org-mode as the ultimate notes app
Arguably they’re sort of converging with all the nvim stuff out there. I said vi to be cute but I actually use LazyVim
I use Doom Emacs, so we’re both in glass houses here. I love Lua because it’s fast as fuck, but it’s militantly imperative, which is a big bummer. In comparison, Lisp still has a lot to teach a novice-ish programmer. Fennel is the best of both worlds, I guess.
Vi isn’t really an operating system.
i’m constantly switching back and forth between them as well as helix. I like them all.
Pulseaudio.
Mr Torvalds and his now favourite AI toy.
wayland
snaps v flatpak v appimages
GNOME vs. KDE
Pronounced “guh-nome” and “kitty”
This comment officer. This is the one that hurt me.
What about xfce? That’s what i run.
Openbox
it’s a solid choice. i respect it.
Which reminds me of X11 / Wayland
X12
Ubuntu
I wanted to say that as well, but then I remembered… Ubuntu also comes from Debian!
Kent Overstreet
Well, congratulations, I guess. I don’t think I’ve felt my blood pressure spike that hard reading the responses to a comment before. Pure ragebating!
Rust
Where is this movie from?
The Pianist
There’s two variants of Debian: Debian, and “damn, this distro is not as flexible as I’d like, I guess I should have just installed Debian in the first place”.
Yeah, that, ubuntu. Poor choice on my part.
- CachyOS
- Fedora
- Arch
- Ubuntu
- Debian
- Nobara Linux
- OpenSUSE
- Kubuntu
- Bazzite
- KDE Neon
Hannah Montana Linux #1
Arch is also a valid answer, btw.
“Name 3 package managers”
Apt Rpm Pacman
Rpm is really more analogous to dpkg. Does the local work, doesn’t talk to repositories.
Apt to…not yum anymore. checks Dnf.
I’m not sure which one would properly call a “package manager”, the apt/dnf role or the rpm/dpkg role.
rpm/dpkg is the package format. apt/dnf/zypper is the system that downloads, unarchives, and moves files into place.
rpmanddpkgare also programs that are used for a number of local operations.True. There’s… a lot to unpack with this.
Package Management is weird.
Can’t we just build it into systemd?
dnf yay snap flatpak emerge… nix?
Snap is more of a cancer then package manager
I felt the same way, but have been finding Ubuntu Core to be a nifty OS for running as a VM.
zypper
The world’s oldest profession.
up2date
Nix Lix Guix
Twix
snix (rest in piss)
Dix (determinate Nix)
cargo, pip, npm
…I’ll show myself the door.
dpkg apt aptitude
Slackware, debian, arch, suse, gentoo, Linux from scratch,…
Damn I’m old.
Yeah, I was afraid to respond similarly thinking shit, I’ll start naming rare or abandoned distros if I do.
Linux dude since slackware make menu_config;make modules modules_install
I guess linux from scratch is questionable. But, these aren’t abandoned tho, slackware still maintained.
is the oldest distribution that is still maintained.
I didn’t even mention a single distro and I’'m literally using slackware right now, so no idea why you replied like this.
Apologies misread your comment.
Understood. Only thing I could think of is that interpreted my make menu_config line as referencing linux from scratch.
Fun fact: In the 90s, everyone had to compile a kernel using menu_config or menuconfig configurator. It didn’t matter if you ran red hat or slackware or debian, they all had you configure your kernel on some form back then.
We would often download the latest kernel overnight from a bbs or mirror site beforehand days before installing because you often needed the latest kernel to get your hardware working.
Anyway, no worries. I was just confused by your response.
Remember puppy linux sitting on one floppy?
Debian, ubuntu, Pop! Os, Arch Linux, Asahi Linux, Fedora, Uwuntu, Hannah Montana Linux, Alpine Linux, Rocky Linux
Hannah Montana Linux is a thing… man the nerds are funny NGL
I believe someone is doing a remake with a newer version.
A friend of mine made a revamped one. Not sure if it is the same project.
Doing it for the memes. I love that man.
