This is a poor analogy. Those installed in Doge knew exactly the value and reason the systems. Processes, people, regulations and institutions they are deleting existed; they didn’t want them to as it was disadvantageous to their greedy fixation on omnipotence.
It’s naive to pretend it’s not deliberate.

Google Voice user for 15 years and I’ve had about 3 instances where my number wasn’t usable for 2FA, mostly because, to your point, by the time companies that care about security learned about voip #s they realized they are mostly used legitimately and sms was insecure anyway. Luckily I found a great FOSS auth app, which I prefer to sms anyway; especially if traveling I don’t have to depend on a mobile connection to be able to complete 2FA.
The structural driver that over decades tore safety and excellence out from Boeing’s engineers, greed and more greed, has been removed so there is no longer a risk that Boeing leaders would trade human life for 1/4% increase in their own stock price.
Definitely fixed now. I totally trust the company after all the soul searching and improvements they must have made.
