The FCC space mirror approval allows Reflect Orbital to test artificial sunlight despite warnings about astronomy and safety.

I read about 20 years ago that they were doing this “satellite mirror” thing in Norway in a town nestled between two mountains that rarely saw any sun. I thought it was feasible and incredible and I believed it at the time. After reading this I see I was a victim of even more bullshit claims. Thankfully I only told about fifteen people about this so, not too much fake news damage done.

A Norway town did do that according to the BBC, but the mirrors were on a mountain not in space: https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20170314-the-town-that-built-a-mirror-to-catch-the-sun

Wow, that’s like 1000x more practical than putting them in space

Cool! Thanks. I’ve either got a bad memory or just scanned the article while in a hurry.
