iirc they have both a 64-bit bit version and a wayland version of steam on the beta branch, so they’re at least branching out (though it remains proprietary and almost certainly always will)

tbh I do feel like it’s somewhat relevant in this case since the packages that were compromised on the AUR were due to the AUR’s package transfer ability for unmaintained packages

if I use both Fedora and OpenSUSE, does that make me a triple neckbeard in a bunny suit?
