I’m not going to claim to be a great writer myself, but I recognized OOP’s style from the sort of utter shit I used to hand in when I was 13 years old and trying to second-guess what sort of thing the teacher would give good grades for.
It reads like they just learned about “show, don’t tell”, and resolved to show for seven whole lines and then tell anyway. It’s an insult to the reader’s intelligence.
My issue isn’t that it’s fake per se but that it’s cloying and mawkishly so. It’s like what a really bad writer thinks good writing looks like.
Trying to extract positivity from it is like trying to get nutrition from a plastic apple.
Also wtf is with that website? “Data Tracking Consent required for free use”? I’m like 99% sure that’s a wilful and deliberate GDPR violation.
Oracle has been a castle built on sand for a long time. Their entire business model hinged on pulling off massive pricing bait-and-switches with large companies, and there’s only so many of those you can do before people get wise to it.
Worth what? It’s basically free.
