And next year political dissidents

Why does everything have to be a war with mainstream media?
No, it’s just a lot of people pissed that big tech wants to barge into their communities and eat up all of the resources.

While I agree they shouldn’t be there… This is exactly why we shouldn’t have centralized control.
Because yesterday it was the anti ICE apps. Today it’s these. Tomorrow it can and be anything.
Living through this has taught me that while I was a strong federalist to try and guarantee rights and build out what I think will help society, it only takes one rogue faction to turn it all against you.

You’re in the wrong community if you’re asking questions like that.

Best “it just works” solution I’ve found. So many others are just weird scripts around yt-dlp, and this kind of is too, but the most maintained and supported. I’m at like… well I have over 1000 pages of videos in there. It’s solid.

What do you mean, you said all you cared about was making sure they are an adult. They are, it’s verified. Oh, was that not actually the point?

Green check will be another $8 a month from artists probably

It sounds like you found a very nice place to live! Congrats to you!

I honestly don’t think so. I think they’re up there, but tech “enthusiasts” (read, tech bros and people who think random gadgets are cool) probably are. They’re happy to waste their money and give money to meta. Creeps are definitely number 2 or 3 though.

I love that big tech was so arrogant they just plum forgot or choose to ignore why those died then.
And then above it they still chose the one thing everyone was mad about, a camera. All they had to do was not put a camera in there but they couldn’t resist.

Too many people tell me they prefer small towns because people are “nice”. In my experience, absolutely not. They may say hello to you, but that does not mean they are nice people. My experience aligns with yours. Selfish, ignorant, nosy. After you leave they’ll immediately start talking about you, your family, and anything else gossipy. Not much else to do in a small town.
Say what you will about big cities but no one gives a damn about you and its great. Someone rude to you? You can literally never see them again. It’s wonderful.

You’re lucky then. For me there was at least a double digit percentage of just plain racism.
Photo of black man walking: “ANYBODY KNOW WHO THIS IS?!”
Car broken into: “I BET IT WAS THAT MEXICAN”.
Absolutely vile place. Boomers talking to other boomers with no filter, an HOA board given a social platform.

I had one friend in college who was going to be a scientist of some sort, chemistry I think. She pushed really hard until year 3 or so and then fell in love and decided to drop out, and then went to a 2 year school years later to become a nurse. So much potential immediately wasted. I can’t pretend to know her exact motivations, but it always made me sad.
And hey, ton of respect for nurses, but anyone from the rural America knows that it’s a thankless job that they are taken advantage of, and it’s specifically because it’s a “fallback” career that is “acceptable” for women with families.
I think that’s what makes me sad. Fuck gender stereotypes, go be a scientist if that’s your dream, don’t fall into what everyone expects that you’ll do.
Wow, can’t have a stupid joke like this without dozens of people grandstanding here. This is what fuels conservatives, people calling out how you should feel horrible for chuckling at a stupid joke. Virtue signalling only encourages people to leave liberal groups because they feel stifled, so thr group becomes even more insular as people leave.
Everyone here is taking this way way way too seriously. It’s a dumb joke. Laugh or don’t, and move on.

I worked in ads only a few months and learned how fucked that industry was. They’re basically given license to just run scripts in your browser, sucking as much info as they can. The fact that it hasn’t been regulated to hell is shocking, and truly a failure of all leaders.
US was too focused on trying to force dominance, they forgot what actual competition is. They could have spent that effort in becoming better, encouraging more US based companies. Instead here we are.
