We have pattern recognition. You recognize some similar patterns between these 2 things. Nothing wrong with that, but doesn’t mean that it means anything.
In fact, most things you can find some similarities between. You could probably replace one of your 2 things with, say, “marriage”, and still go through the same points, and think of something to say about it.
Well it’s my point that the question “is X a Y” is not answered by listing shared facts of X and Y.
Those facts need to be part of THE DEFINITION of Y to be relevant.
If you start from that end with the Wikipedia definition, you can stop 4 words in: “Cults are social groups[…]”. AI is not a social group, therefore AI is not a cult.
