I backup my whole NAS to AWS S3 glacier deep storage. I use rclone to encrypt it client side and perform incremental syncs. It is slow and costs extra to pull the data out, but I pay roughly $2/mo for all of my data to live there

JJ lacks too many features compared to git, it’s easier to use but just less powerful. I think Helix and Zellij are good for that “batteries included” approach, but neovim and tmux are more powerful and allow much more customization IMO so those tools don’t displace them for me. I think shell choices are less impactful, if you’re writing scripts 90% of the time it’ll have to be bash anyway, use what you like for the interactive shell though.

8·4 days agoIt’s as if a country banned imports from occupied France and Eastern Europe but kept allowing them from Nazi Germany proper. History will not look kindly upon the governments of the world today and the ways in which they’ve aided and abetted genocide. I miss the Eastern bloc

2·5 days agoI’ve been using Calibre Web Automated on my server and it works nicely, no issues so far and addresses the shortcomings for self hosting pretty well

Fair, this is just by far the cheapest per GB in my experience and I don’t have any privacy concerns since I encrypt everything before it leaves my server. But to each their own
