Jumped in to PMOS yesterday on a OnePlus6T. So far very few bugs. I like KDE Plasma on my desktop dev computer, so I went with it for this phone. It feels familiar and so far I’m loving it.

One thing I see that is odd is the battery life so far stays at 100% when I go poking around doing cat on files in my battery driver, I see the charge current value is much higher than the charge_full value. Will this possibly correct itself over multiple charge cycles?

I read up on it a little in the PMOS wiki, but any extra insight would be much appreciated.

Is it worth while to set up matrix to join the conversation on the matrix channel postmarketos has?

Aa somebody who has used a OP6, the battery becomes more accurate after a few cycles. At first, my battery reported 50% when it was actually close to zero (I thought pmOS was giving it magic battery life for a bit since it lasted nearly the day of medium use before going to 50%), but after it was fully charged up (wiki says to leave it charging for some time) the indicator seems to be more accurate.

If you have any issues, the Matrix channel is super helpful! When I ran into a problem involving the installation of the unstable edge kernel (which was never meant to be on the wiki), I was guided towards how to fix it and the wiki was updated almost immediately

Thanks for the insight. I will probably go ahead and get set up with Matrix then.

Matrix is kind of like the modern version of IRC, a lot of open source projects have moved to it! (in many cases, the Matrix rooms are actually IRC bridges)

I have been leaning toward running contnuwuity on my home server to start exploring matrix. This may be a better question for a self hosting community, but what do you run? Or do you use an open server?

I just use a public home server (matrix.glasgow.social), but if you want to self-host, I’ve heard Continuwuity is easier to run compared to Synapse!

Different lemming here, I use continuwuity, and have been quite pleased at how little hassle there was compared to my earlier attempt at one of the other options. The devs and community are friendly and helpful as well.

I got continuwuity up and running without much trouble. I might even try to get the rtc part running using Element X. Thanks for the information. So far it’s working as expected with just messaging and rooms.
