I got nailed several times by one of the fuckers in my car until it escaped out the window. It was just a regular black housefly. I had no idea they could bite. Like a needle stabbed into me. At least the mosquito is relatively painless. Fuck biting houseflies.
minus-squaretpihkal@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up30·2 days agoMost likely a stable fly. House flies have sponge like mouth parts for soaking up liquid and are incapable of biting.
minus-squareatomicbocks@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up8·2 days agoI had never heard of stable flies before. Here we have horse flies that are apparently similar but not the same species as stable flies.
minus-squareShankShill@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkarrow-up7·2 days agoAt work we get deer flies. Bites can be described as feeling like getting stabbed with a serrated needle. Shirts, DEET, jeans, don’t matter. They need blood to reproduce and they’re horny enough to find a way through it all. And they’re smart enough to always go behind you.
