Ok, the name is Onkalo spent nuclear fuel repository. Is that better? I named it. Now shut the fuck up.

How do you know there isn’t an ice age in 100.000 years that completly changes the geological structure at those chosen points?

Who cares? So what, the mine collapses and we can’t get to the waste. Why would that matter?

How do you know their copper tanks will last as long as calculated?

They’re checked to make sure things are holding up, so who cares? If there’s an issue then we’ll know about it. If it’s in long-term storage then it literally does not matter. The ground is shielding everything. There’s radioactive rock all over in the ground.

The fear of radiation is the targeted propaganda. It isn’t an issue. We deal with radiation all the time. Our bodies are adapted to fix radiation damage. In fact, there’s growing evidence that a little more radiation is actually beneficial, not that a nuclear plant is going to increase your radiation exposure or anything.

Oh wow. That is next level. If someone builds a sauna out of fuel rods, do yourself a favour and don’t go in there.

Being next to the fuel rods is a bad idea. That’s not where or how they’re being stored.

However, I’m not scared of a little radiation. If you are, then don’t go outside and live in a lead bubble. I’m not trying to be irradiated, but I don’t have some paralyzing fear of it. We adapted to live in a world with constant low-level ionizing radiation. It’s only dangerous at high levels it seems. The linear no-threshold model is outdated and doesn’t represent reality.

Also, I like that I named the facility and now you’re just ignoring that. Do you recognize that it’s a thing now?
