Guys, just FYI - other adblocks still work. I’m using Ghostery on Vivaldi (Chromium-based) and it works perfectly fine, including blocking ads during YouTube videos.
No idea why uBlock specifically is being blocked, but it’s not like you can’t have an ad-blocker anymore.
For one thing UBO, if you take the time to (turn on and) learn the advanced user mode, will let you customize interactions site-by-site, and remember your choices for years.EG I regulary use the zapper and eyedropper to get rid of stuff other than ads. It’s also easy to turn on/off site-by-site.
The man deserves a medal for the time he’s put in literally saving the internet for so many millions.

It’s a subscription feed. Ffs, just show me the most recent videos from the creators I’m subscribed to, in chronological order of release. The home page is for recommended videos
ublock has a lite version on chrome browsers that still works. but normal ublock is much better. ubo lite and other blockers are hiding the ads, but their lists can’t be updated so quickly.
but also, ublock origin is not just an ad blocker. it is a wide range content blocker, also efficient at blocking trackers and limiting fingerprinting. the browser API limitations that make it not work on chrome also means that it can’t do all that anymore, and it is really just a cosmetic ad blocker
Ghostery does the same stuff. Granted, it can’t cut out HTML elements as you see fit, but that’s a feature I haven’t needed in over a decade.

What capabilities did it lose? Like: what user-facing consequences are there of that lack of functionality?
Again: I haven’t been using uBlock for a while now, I don’t see any ads on any websites, including those within YouTube videos. So - what am I missing for not using uBO?

Is it? I don’t know. I know it’s the most recommended one, but I’ve tried uBlock, AdGuard and now I’m using Ghostery, and I honestly don’t see a difference.
You see it in the edge cases I presume, how fast it reacts to Youtube nonsense and such. It is blocked by Google for a reason I would think.
Reacting to YT’s attempts to block the ad-blockers faster is a good advantage, but it’s not something inherent in the Manifest version, is it?
Well, yes, the reason being: it didn’t switch to Manifest v3. Just like AdNauseam. BTW - both can still be installed, you just need to manually pull the .zip file and import it.
Also things like pfblocker/pihole. Pfblocker has made it shocking to see someone else use the Internet.

Ghostery blocks trackers. So does AdGuard. So does Privacy Badger. All of them work perfectly fine regardless of Manifest version.
So? What’s the issue here, exactly?
It no longer works because of how it’s programmed. Ghostery must use a different method of blocking ads which works with Manifest v3.
Yes, that’s my point. People are crying here over uBlock, like Google killed their family dog, but clearly it’s possible to have the ad-blockers work perfectly fine even on Manifest v3.
