    There’s loose and speeding electrons up there. A subatomic soup from all the explosions that came before us and continue until gravity or mass stops them.

    Atomic particles speed through you (and damage your eyes) when you’re on a ship or space station rotating around earth that fast.

    Often the vessel you’re in gets peppered with subatomic holes. Your eyes are particularly prone to this damage as they’re designed to be sensitive to particles/waves on those scales. Space is not safe.
