Mint is meant for beginners and folk who just want an OS, not a hobby.
Another to check out is ZorinOS. Same deal as Mint, but looks wise is closer to modern Windows and is also designed to make it very easy to run windows programs in Linux.
I use zorin on a desktop and Mint on a laptop. Both are fantastic. I also use Ubuntu server (no GUI) for my home webserver, and it’s really good (but I’ll never use uwubuntu for a desktop OS again)
