Sometimes a pattern is hard to read at a glance when you are in the middle of juggling five needles while knitting in the round.
So I color code it.
This will be for a pair of socks.
The pattern comes from the Japanese Knitting Stitch Bible. If you haven’t heard of it before you should definitely check it out. Super dense, it uses about 130 different stitches and hundreds of patterns. This pattern is one of the easy ones.
Check your local libraries for a copy if you don’t want to buy the book. Mine had a digital copy and it was fun to flip through.
Just curious if you’re able to take screenshots from either the app or website your accessing that through.
My library uses overdrive, and I have been able to take screenshots of books opened in the default web browser application on computer or phone. I’ve also been able to screenshot in the kindle app on my phone before, but haven’t tried that in a few years.
Cool beans… I was wondering if there was some kind of DRM on there that would prevent you from doing that because I would hate to have to redraw a pattern like this from scratch.

As a Linux system automation code monkey I figured out how to turn knitting patterns into bash script to make them easy to read.
Here is a snip from a teddy bear:

Oh ha ha, I have that book and leaf through it now and then. I’ve never tried any of the patterns. Kudos to Japanese knitters though.
Whenever I’m looking for inspiration to fill something in, I grab that book. It makes every project three times longer, but the results are so much more worth it.

For added points, you can make it the lock screen of your cell phone so you don’t have to actually unlock your phone if you’re using it as your pattern.
