Most people don’t care about things. They just want the convenience. Eat the marshmallows now. Getting a stomach ache later is some future problem.

They’re stupid. That’s why. They stand on fake moral high grounds shouting down at everyone for supporting oppressive buisnessses, while addicted to their sweet sweet Facebook because [STUPID FUCKING REASON].

Anyone that would leave Facebook already has. The rest are just people that want you to think they give a shit about the people being hurt by it.

My family uses it, and i value access to my family over having to be on the site. The expectation of making everyone switch to something else for my sake is unreasonable. I only use the desktop site and IA mostly because that’s how my family plans birthday parties. I’ve asked them to let me know directly and that hasn’t changed so rather than miss out on my nieces’ birthday parties I suck or up.

I have this discussion with a lot of people from the left, who often say they need to occupy those spaces and not let them be only a cesspool for conservative spiel. However, what they don’t seem to understand no matter how fucking much I tell them, is that you cannot win a game your opponent controls the rules. The only solution to traditional social media is to pressure the government to ban it. Not regulation, bans are the only way.

I am not from the USA, so that’s a problem for y’all to figure it out. However, the answer is usually quite simple: hit them where it hurts. Here where I live the government has not yet been fully controlled by the fascist right, so we still have a chance to use legal and civil devices. But if not, just remember what the french did.
