I was going to comment on that but didn’t want to get burned at the stake. I agree the Edsel was a pretty good looking car, even if it wasn’t completely conventional for the time period. The cybertruck almost looked good in its early concept days before it got turned into a literal dumpster fire.
It can be a controversial item, but then cars are rarely universally put on a podium for it’s looks.
Usually when you cater to broad audiences designs are trending towards the boring/vanilla side.
The cars that really stick out design wise have always been at least somewhat controversial.
Even today still with all these decades of car design exprience. Take for example BMW’s new (massive) grille.
