Thank you!
The camera autofocus currently does not usd the ToF sensor, so it tries to find the focus in software. With the sensor it should be much better.
Wifi issue is known, its not using the proper firmware, a fix is in the works.

claude, make everything on my website a pointless animation. No i don’t care about readability.
i feel like everytime this is my old man yells at cloud moment but i really hope we don’t get a web where every single element has to slide in.

Call it wistful thinking but I still believe donations are the way forward.
But it requires a bit of a shift in both willingness and ease.
Currently donations are also distributed pretty unfair, they go mostly to the user facing side, while crucial packages remain forgotten.
I would almost suggest some kind of system where you could set aside a certain amount of money, and it would donate automatically to all your installed packages, with some kind of weighting system I suppose.

Yes cause understanding software is important even if you use AI.
And even if you want to go full vibe code and never look at anything yourself the AI does need documentation, compare the performance of an agent on a large project with and without an AGENTS.md, the difference is massive. Without the agent usually does figure it out, but it spends a ton of tokens searching.

Has anyone been able to find any info on the modem outside of “A 4G modem for connectivity”
And how they got it network operator and regulatory approved?
Which networks and carriers does it work on?
MAKERphone 2.0 uses 4G LTE Cat-1 with 2G fallback and works with any carrier that gives you a nano-SIM.
This seems quite vague and while i can’t say for sure but as far as i know you can’t just slot a sim into a modem with any arbitrary IMEI and it works on the long term.

according to the Nura wiki Nik012003 is working on porting it to “memeline” linux
whether that is a typo or means something else i don’t know
https://wiki.nura.eco/wiki/Jolla_Phone_(2026)_(jolla-jp2601)
I was also thinking about it but not sure, it really depends on if there is big demand. Currently my hands are still full with the FP6 and after i wanted to do the Catcrafts RISC-V phone, so im not really big on then doing another FP6 sized project if there is no demand.

Not sure why you are asking this in a linux phone community but this is the generative AI policy of flathub, pretty much the store for linux phones:
Generative AI policy
Submitters must disclose any AI-generated code, documentation, packaging, or other material they know or reasonably believe is included in the application or its Flathub packaging. The disclosure must identify the affected parts and approximate extent.
Flathub manifests must not contain AI-generated or AI-assisted content. Disclosure does not exempt manifests from this restriction.
AI used only for research, discussion, or debugging does not need disclosure when no generated material is included in the application or its Flathub packaging. Other disclosed AI-generated material is evaluated at reviewer discretion. Reviewers may reject a submission, including without further review, based on the extent or role of generated material or concerns about its review, quality, or maintainability. Disclosure does not create a presumption of acceptance.
AI tools or agents must not open or automate Flathub submission pull requests, or generate their commit messages, descriptions, review comments, or replies. Submitters must not request AI-agent reviews.
Undisclosed or materially misrepresented AI-generated material, or prohibited AI-generated submission or review interactions, may result in rejection. Repeated violations may result in a permanent ban from future submissions and activities.
https://docs.flathub.org/docs/for-app-authors/requirements#generative-ai-policy
In general also outside AI specifically the requirements are pretty strict.

Yes, i looked into this and it doesn’t seem like alot of work.
Edits are required in sxmo_modemdial.sh to use the imsd dbus instead and the polkit rules need to allow imsd, the rest is work for me but that’s no issue.

This seems like a very good development, but as for joining a team i am open to the idea but not sure if i will apply. Especially considering most of the work is already done and maintaining it will now be done on the list.

I would recommend using a classifier model instead of a text generation one.
As for the way to do it a simple program that connects to you mailbox via imap and calls the vllm or whatever api you are using and then moves it to spam could work?
The reason people want it is freedom from big tech, AOSP is still controlled by Google.
And the convience of every device in my house running the same software does also play a part.
Why is there no value in mobile linux on a modern phone?
Atleast for me the value for Nura (which im glad is why they dropped the old name) is that its mainline linux, not that the orginal vendor doesn’t support it anymore.
Might be a caching issue but the banner image still shows the old name for me.
🐱👍
Guess all my posts are outdated now but i do like the new name.

i have to admit i have never used sxmo so i don’t know how it works.
As with going to posh the things that change are how the dailer connects to imsd and how fingerprintd authenticates.
Going to openrc shouldn’t be too much trouble, but i have no idea how the dialer works on sxmo, if you want, could you explain a bit how it works?

Works fine for the fp6+ aswell.
the Fairphone (Gen. 6) and Fairphone (Gen. 6+) are software-compatible, so you can install the postmarketOS image on either model.
https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/Fairphone_(Gen._6)_(fairphone-fp6)

Yes that is possible in the technical sense, possible in the sense that i can make it idk.
A big part of it is regulation i believe, i also don’t know it fully so take this with a grain of salt but i believe there is alot of regulation that must make it so that users are not allowed to modify the radio, now i think this doesn’t forbid open source but it does forbid the user being able to actually change it, as far as i understand atleast.

You need postmarketos-ui-phosh imsd-ofono fp6-login-screen-schema packages, also phosh uses greetd not gdm.
Plasma mobile also doesn’t use SDDM, you can disable the plasma-mobile service.

Not exactly,
fingerprintd really is a package for FP6 style devices, adding support for different devices to it will require alot of work, not sure if i would call it a rewrite as the better approach is probably a new package for this hardware that provides the same interface.
For imsd the story is different, most of it is ims code that doesn’t care what the underlying hardware is, adding another modem type here is not alot of work, but i was also looking for a QMI compatible modem in which case it will just work with minimal changes.
Wifi should be fixed in the latest version, can you try it?
